The Bellini-Pezzoli Collection

The exhibit, Glass Artists and Designers, 1960-2010. The Bellini-Pezzoli Collection, curated by Rosa Barovier Mentasti and Cristina Tonini, has been extended until February 27, 2011. The exhibit, dedicated to important works in contemporary glass, presents both limited production serial objects of the highest quality and one-of-a-kind pieces by glass artists, among whom are the Venetians Lino Tagliapietra, Silvano Rubino, Michele Burato, the Japanese Yoichi Ohira, and the Americans Dale Chihuly, Richard Marquis and Toots Zynsky. Room-by-room information is also available in English.

The Bellini-Pezzoli collection was assembled in Milan beginning in the 1970s, and focused on works of then-contemporary artists, both Italian and foreign, who had chosen glass as their expressive medium. In the exhibit, other than very high quality objects produced in series, there also are one-of-a-kind pieces by such glass artists as Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Silvano Rubino, Michele Burato and Luciano Vistosi, or the Japanese Yoichi Ohira.

In conjunction with the exhibit, Artisti e designer del vetro, 1960 - 2010. La collezione Bellini-Pezzoli (Glass Artists and Designers, 1960-2010. The Bellini-Pezzoli Collection), curated by Rosa Barovier Mentasti and Cristina Tonini (Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, 18 November 2010 ? 30 January 2011), there will be three conversations in Italian in which historians, artists, master craftsmen and collectors of glass will dialogue in a free-flowing exploration that have, as a common denominator, the fascinating and very vital world of contemporary glass.
